# Credits

> Free, temporary and bought credit, and the order they are spent in.

```bash theme={null}
curl https://api.datacircle.dev/credits/ -H "Authorization: Token $DATACIRCLE_API_KEY"
```

```json theme={null}
{
  "balance_usd": 5.0,
  "signup_usd": 5.0,
  "bought_usd": 0.0,
  "manual_usd": 0.0,
  "temporary": [],
  "full_file_unlocked": false
}
```

## Kinds of credit

* **Signup:** \$5, permanent, once per workspace.
* **Temporary:** from a campaign. The launch campaign adds \$20, usable for 24 hours, to every workspace that signs up in launch week. It is listed in `temporary` with its `expires_at`; whatever is left then is gone.
* **Bought:** through Stripe Checkout, permanent.

## Spend order

Each call spends temporary credit first (soonest to expire), then the signup credit, then bought credit (oldest first). So free credit never sits unused while you pay.

## Buying credit

Buy $50 or $100 from your dashboard, or from the API: it returns a Stripe payment page to open or hand to a human.

```bash theme={null}
curl -X POST https://api.datacircle.dev/checkout/ -H "Authorization: Token $DATACIRCLE_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"amount_usd": 50}'
```

```json theme={null}
{ "checkout_url": "https://checkout.stripe.com/c/pay/..." }
```

The credit lands as soon as Stripe confirms the payment. Once your workspace has bought \$50 in total, the full daily file unlocks. Free credit never unlocks it.
